Pontefract or Pomfret a market and Parish town, in the wapentake of Osgoldcross, liberty of Pontefract

The Ancient Parish of Pontefract included the Chapelries of Carleton, East Hardwick, Ferrybridge, Knottingley and Tanshelf

Places of interest include the remains of the 11 Century Norman castle where Richard II was murdered in 1399, and the double Helix Staircase in the Old Parish Church of All Saints
