A Digest of the Parish Registers within the Diocese of Worcester Previous to 1812, together with a Table of the Bishops' Transcripts now in existence in Edgar Tower, Worcester, previous to 1700. - Click for large image
Prepared and issued by the Committee of Parish Registers, under the authority of the Worcester Diocesan Conference.
Published in 1899.
In 1896 the Diocesan Conference suggested that a survey be made of the number and condition of Registers within the Diocese.
This book contains the result of this survey.
It also compares the numbers of registers with the results of similar surveys in 1812 and as a result of the 1831 census.
This unfortunately shows some registers have been destroyed or damaged in the intervening periods.
It also gives an idea of the condition of the various registers still extant.
