Coningsby Manor Court Roll 1731-1854

Description

At each court session the "Homage" (tenants of the manor) would sit in judgement of wrongdoers, who had not respected the established customs. The steward would deal with the transfer of manorial lands, from one tenant or "copyholder" to the next. These records provide an insight into life in Mid-Lincolnshire, in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. As copyhold land passed from one relative to another, several generations of a family may be found. Contains a list of all the surnames & placenames, other than Coningsby, and also a Glossary of Terms. In PDF format.
