The Duttons of Dutton

Description

The CD contains the book, entitled - Memorials of the Duttons of Dutton in Cheshire (with notes respecting the Sherborne Branch of the Family published in 1901, and dedicated to the Right Honorable, The Lady Sherborne, Baroness of Sherborne, chronicles the Family History extracted from records of the Dutton family, so far as they relate to the Sheborne branch, founded by Thomas Dutton, esquire (1507-1581), a collection of letters written by Sir Piers Dutton of Dutton (d.1545), also a long series of inquisitions extending from 1298-1629 relating to the Duttons of Dutton and Hatton, the former printed in their entirety, of the latter, abstracts are given, together with other Dutton records derived from the Heralds College, probate registries, and public libraries, which are now for the first time collected and printed.

As well as the digitised book, the CD Rom contains a digitised copy of the Dutton Family Tree, drawn up by P.H. Lawson F.S.A. in the 1950s. The Family Tree dates to beyond the Norman Invasion and shows the descended lines from Odard, Lord of Dutton up until the mid 1950s.

Also included on the CD Rom are photographs and an account of a Dutton Trip organised in June 2000 which visited several places of interest to Dutton Family researchers, notably Stoke Newington Preparatory School, East Grinstead, which is the site of the reconstructed Dutton Hall, so carefully dismantled and transported there by the Dewar Family (of Whisky fame) in the 1930s to be annexed with the Hunting Lodge of John OGaunt and renamed, Dutton Homestead.

Lastly, there are extracts from articles written in County Life Magazine, the Chester Chronicle and other newspapers telling of the History of the Dutton family.

This CD Rom is a must for Dutton researchers, as the book and Family Tree alone are a wealth of knowledge.
