£ 4.00
   + P&P
This handbook is a collection of over 650 memorials inscriptions dedicated to Irish military personnel who lost their lives in two world wars, many biographical details are included. The graves were found in cemetery surveys undertaken in India and from other written sources. With the exception of the New Delhi War Memorial which commemorates the Afghan War of 1919 all the cemeteries are under the auspices of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. The Kirkee War Memorial near Poona commemorates the soldiers who died throughout India from 1914-20 including four soldiers from the 1st Battalion Connaught Rangers who died in the mutiny of July 1920. Many of the regiments including the 1st Battalion Inniskilling Fusiliers have now passed into history but the memories of the fallen still live on. Illustrated 92 pages.
