Incidents in a Gypsy's Life

By George Smith. It was George Smith's close relatives who gave George Borrow the inspiration and the characters for his novels "Lavengro" and "The Romany Rye". In 1886, George Smith and his family became an exhibit at the International Exhibition in Liverpool, an event which led to the publication of this pamphlet. Although ostensibly an autobiography, it was probably ghost-written for George from biographical information and press reports that he provided. Genealogical and census information has been added to enhance the original text. 40 pages. Awaiting revised edition.
