About UsThe Hertfordshire Family History Society (formerly known as the Hertfordshire Family and Population History Society) was founded in 1977 and is a registered charity. The Society has already played an important role in family history research in the county. We hold regular meetings in different parts of Hertfordshire and try to strike a balance between talks for the experienced family researcher and sessions for complete beginners who do not know where to start. Since the Society was formed, members have been sending us the names and localities of surnames they are researching. From this an index of Hertfordshire surnames, expressing members' interests, has been formed which has proved to be valuable for those who want to know what others are doing. The Society also has a number of on-going projects which include the recording of graveyard Monumental Inscriptions, Poor Law Records, Quarter Sessions Records and Poll Books. We have published a number of booklets of Monumental Inscriptions, Militia Lists and "Strays" and further items in these series will be forthcoming, details of which will appear in the quarterly journal Hertfordshire People as they are issued For general enquiries about this supplier, please click here |
